MESSIAH UNIVERSITY LAUNCHES PARTNERSHIP WITH UPMC TO IMPROVE PATIENT OUTCOMES ACROSS PENNSYLVANIA
Discounted Nursing Degrees Provided to all UPMC Nursing Staff
Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania (September 21, 2021) – Today, Messiah University, aleader in nursing education for more than 30 years, announced a partnership withUPMC that will accelerate the nursing expertise in the region and meet the continueddemands of better patient outcomes. As part of this partnership, the nursing staff atUPMC will have the opportunity to participate in Messiah University’s online nursingdegree programs (Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral) at a discounted rate of 10percent. In addition, the University is offering $600 toward course books. UPMC, theleading healthcare provider in Pennsylvania, employs over 18,000 nurses and owns andoperates 40 hospitals and 800 physician offices across the Commonwealth.
“According to the American Association of Colleges of Nursing there is a significantcorrelation between nursing education and patient outcomes. In addition to Covid-19,which continues to significantly affect our communities, there is an increased need forhealthcare services for aging populations, as well as renewed emphasis on preventivecare,” said Kim Fenstermacher, PhD, CRNP, Assistant Dean of Nursing; AssociateProfessor at Messiah University. “Our online nursing programs are taught by healthcareexperts and are designed for busy working professionals to further their education.
